MAKE YOUR OWN HOMEMADE PINK IRISH CREAM

Pink Baileys, Pink Irish Cream, pink liquor, irish cream, baileys

Baileys is honestly one of my favourite drinks on earth! I do enjoy the occasional glass throughout the year, but for me, Christmas is the ultimate Irish Cream season! It’s just such a cosy drink to sip on while watching a Christmas film, all snuggled up by the fire in a blanket! Plus its amazing in hot chocolate and coffee!

Since I’ve been eighteen myself and my Mom have made our own Baileys every Christmas! Its quite similar to the Baileys that you buy in the shop, only slightly creamier, and you can make it however you like!

YOU WILL NEED
Mixing Bowl
Whisk/ Blender
Empty glass bottle
1 Cup/ 230ml of single cream (or double if you like it ridiculously thick and creamy)
1 Cup/ 230ml sweetened condensed milk
1 Cup/ 230ml of Whiskey
1 tsp (or to taste) of diluted coffee
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp almond essence
Red food colouring (do not use gel food colouring)
Blue food colouring

I personally use double cream and dilute it with a little water as I like my Irish Cream to be super creamy, but it can be bit too much for some. If its your first time making baileys, I’d opt for the single cream. In regards to the gel food colouring, sometimes it can react with the ingredients and turn solid, (which was gross, it happened one time when I was making pink chocolates, I do not wish it upon anyone), maybe its just the food colouring I purchased that does this, but hey I just thought I’d warn you. I prefer to use liquid food colouring.

If you like your Baileys with a little added flavour, why not try adding orange essence or mint flavouring. You could even make a small hot chocolate and pour it into the mixture, (make sure its cooled before you add it). You could add salted caramel, (oh my god, that idea literally just sprang into my head and now I’m tempted to pop my Baileys back into the blender with some salted caramel sauce!) or coconut flavouring, the options are somewhat endless!

Blend all of the ingredients together in a bowl with a whisk or alternatively, if it fits, you could pop it in a blender!

I normally add the coffee gradually until it tastes just right. I also gradually add the food colouring because it takes a few attempts to get the colour to the right intensity! That is, if you’re bothered about the colour, you could totally leave it as traditional as you like. I only made it pink because hey, I really like pink, if you hadn’t already noticed, (I feel like I say that way too much).

Once everything is blended, all you need to do is decant the mixture into a bottle and store in the fridge. Your Irish Cream should keep for around two months, but mine is normally all gone by then!!

Anyway, this is quite a simple recipe, but its definitely one I’ve been enjoying for a long time! If any of you decide to make your own Baileys this year, do let me know how it went and enjoy!
